New GIUK Chairman and Chief Executive

We are very pleased to announce that Mr Phil McClennon, former Chief Executive Officer of Leadec UK is now the new Chairman and Chief Executive of GIUK as of 1 May, 2022, succeeding Mr Terry Sargeant. Mr McClennon started his career at an Automotive OEM, delivering engineering projects across their manufacturing and logistics divisions. He first became a member of GIUK close to 20 years ago after founding a UK subsidiary for a German Engineering Group where he became Managing Director. Within that period he moved to work in Germany for close to a decade, working in his group's global headquarters across a number of senior executive roles. He re-joined GIUK upon his return to the UK in 2016 after taking on the UK ceo role for a German Industrial company. Mr McClennon will be in charge of the GIUK Membership and Dr Bernd Atenstaedt, who will remain Executive President, will be in charge of Government lobbying, our USP, both working together for the good of German business in the UK.

GIUK - CHANGE OF MANAGEMENT

Our Chairman and Chief Executive, Dr Bernd Atenstaedt, was one of the founder members of GIUK in May 1975 and has looked after GIUK ever since, now for more than 45 years.

The time has come to pass on the management of GIUK to another (younger) colleague and he proposed that Terry Sargeant, Chairman and Chief Executive of ThyssenKrupp plc takes over as Chairman and Chief Executive of GIUK, alongside his position at ThyssenKrupp and hopefully beyond. This was unanimously approved by the GIUK Board and will take effect from 1st January 2021. The Board also confirmed that Dr Atenstaedt will become President of GIUK from that date and remain on the Board.  Together they will look after the interests of German business in the UK, focussing in particular on lobbying Government.
